Upcoming deadline for fourth annual Fall Paddle Florida

September 6, 2011

If you love the blue water of the Calusa Blueway, consider the dark water of the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail.

The deadline is approaching for the fourth annual Fall Paddle Florida on the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail. Not only do they have a lineup of evening entertainment scheduled, but several elected officials have expressed interest in joining organizers for portions of the trip. This will be a chance to show lawmakers about how Paddle Florida became a non-profit organization, formed in order to promote water conservation, wildlife preservation, restoration of springs and protection of waterways in Florida.

Cynthia Barnett, the author of Mirage will be making an appearance as part of her book tour for her new book, Blue Revolution. Also on tap: Margaret Tolbert, who will give a talk about Florida's springs, fittingly at Lafayette Blue Springs. This world-renowned artist has used her talent to produce a book called AQUIFERious.

The group will be paddling through the heart of Springs County and, depending on water levels, will be able to get an up-close look at some of the most incredible springs in the world.

This will be Paddle Florida’s best Suwannee adventure yet, so make sure to visit www.paddleflorida.org to register! A $25 late fee applies after Sept. 29. The trip is Oct. 13-20, 2011.
