On the road again

[imagefield:left:0]Kayakers are a mobile bunch.

This photo shows a visitor to an event at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fort Myers (Summerlin Road and College Parkway). Such scenes are common place here during tourist season, during the Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival – this year it’s Oct. 29 – Nov. 7 – and pretty much year-round.

I’m headed out this week to attend the East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival in Charleston, S.C. It’s put on by the Charleston County Parks & Recreation Department. I’m aiming to find out how they produce such a great event and to let those Southeast kayakers and others know about our great waters here on the Calusa Blueway.

And even though I’ll be parking a car in a hotel lot very similar to this photo, it won’t have a kayak atop it. My kayak won’t fit in the compartment under my seat on Delta.
