Help our wildlife

December 14, 2009

Kayakers are in the perfect position to help birds and mammals along the blueway rather than disturb them.

Pick up fishing line and other debris – leave the scene cleaner than you found it.

Stay in your boat in sensitive areas, such as seagrass beds at low tide.

Don’t feed wildlife. It causes animals to lose their natural fear of humans and increases their vulnerability to injuries and death.

Observe wildlife from a distance – 150 feet or 45 meters is recommended. Use binoculars or your camera lens to see well.

Report sick or injured wildlife. Call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at (888) 404-FWCC or call the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife at (239) 472-3644.
