Caloosahatchee Regional Park, Alva. www.leeparks.org.
It’s a wild place!

Rock Lake Resort, 2937 Palm Beach Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33916 Phone (800) 325-7596, www.rocklakeresort.com.
A cottage on Billy’s Creek couldn’t be any better. Ask about the blueway paddlers’ discount!

The Sun & The Moon Inn, Matlacha. (239) 283-3192. www.sunandmoon.net
Manatees swim by frequently; kayak dock right there.

Jug Creek Cottages, Bokeelia. (239) 283-0015. www.tropicstarcruises.com
Rustic and remote. Does it get any better?

Cayo Costa State Park. www.reserveamerica.com or www.floridastateparks.org.
Robinson Crusoe should have been a kayaker and come here.

The Castaways, Sanibel. (239) 472-1252. www.thecastaways.com
This is the place to stay on the backbay side of Sanibel. Quaint doesn’t even begin to describe it.

San Carlos RV Resort. (239) 466-3133. www.sancarlosrv.com
The blueway beckons tent campers, RVers and those lucky enough to stay in a tropical-colored cottage.

Koreshan State Historic Site. www.reserveamerica.com or www.floridastateparks.org
Pine trees, gopher tortoises and lots of waterfront tent sites. Perfect.

Sean and Jeff are due to finish Saturday. The pair, who is paddling as Team Sweetwater, are raising awareness of the 190-mile Lee County trail and fundraising for the Clinic for Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island.

Fitzgibbon, an amputee since age 3, is a licensed/certified orthotic fitter and pedorthist at St. Petersburg Limb and Brace, a sponsor of the expedition, and is a former national surfing champion.

They will return to Lee County to teach a rescue class and speak about their trip during the Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival, Nov. 3-6.

The public is encouraged to visit www.liquidrythmnkayaking.com to make a donation and follow the paddlers. The expedition blog is updated daily.
