Calusa Blueway showcases creeks with corkscrew turns and wildlife tales

February 8, 2011

[imagefield:left:0]They have great names – Owl Creek, Telegraph Creek, Yellow Fever Creek.
They have easy waters to ply – calm tributaries of the Caloosahatchee is all they are.
They have launch spots nearby – see the yellow/Caloosahatchee map of the Calusa Blueway.
Most of all, the creeks along the blueway’s third and final leg offer moss-draped oaks, six-foot leather ferns, freshwater turtles and even sightings of robins this time of year. It’s a contrasting scene to the mangrove-laced estuaries that dominate the shorelines here.
So pick up a paddle and go. Explore the map. Enjoy the views.
