Calusa Blueway to be part of July 24 event
Whether you’re a local or visitor, you may want to clear your schedule this Saturday, July 24, to attend Lee County Extension Service’s annual Taste of Lee event, which this year will feature an informational display on the Calusa Blueway.
Mostly, people attend the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. event, which will be held at First Baptist Church of Fort Myers downtown, for the yum factor. It’s an educational tropical fruit festival that’s open to the public for only $1 admission.
There will be free tasting tables of locally grown and caught goodies. Lots of exotic fruit will be on display. Farmers and fishers will bring their edibles for sale including cheese, honey, herbs, citrus, fruits, vegetables and seafood. Classes are planned with local experts on planting and care of tropical fruit trees and food preservation. Heck, there is even a Carmen Miranda look-alike contest.
The site is at 1735 Jackson St., Fort Myers, FL 33901.
